Welcome to my Blog!

I'm Lauren, a Boulder, Colorado portrait photographer.

The last several years of my life have been marked by a little bit of serendipity.  After bouncing around the country (and the world), three years ago I moved to Boulder on a whim.  I planned to stay for just a summer, but the sunny Boulder weather, abundant hiking, and delicious micro-brews won me over immediately. Meeting my now-husband, Tony, in a local margarita bar also provided pretty good motivation to stay put.  Last year while planning our wedding, I looked at hundreds of wedding photography websites.  Six months after the wedding,  I found myself still looking at those websites, investing in a fancy camera, taking photography classes, and now starting this blog.

Right now I am still learning how to take good photos and building my portfolio. I am not accepting any paying clients.  However, if you're interested in having me take some pictures, shoot me an email.

I hope you enjoy the website!

the lucky one

the lucky one - that’s me.  Seven months ago I was lucky enough to marry this man.

Not only is he damn sexy, but he’s also brilliant.

October 4th we were married at Devil’s Thumb Ranch, in the mountains of Tabernash, Colorado.  It was a wonderful weekend and I was so grateful that so many of our friends could make the trip and spend time with us up there.  We love spending time there, so a couple weeks ago we headed back up to Devil’s Thumb for a romantical relaxing weekend and I took lots of pictures of the ranch in winter.

This was the view from our room.

I love the decorations at the ranch - very rustic and western chic - not at all like a typical hotel.     There aren’t any televisions in the rooms, so you’re forced to do one of the many activities at the ranch.  In our various trips up there, we’ve been downhill skiing (at nearby Winter Park), cross-country skiing, horseback riding, fly-fishing, hiking, spa’ing, swimming and hot-tubbing, mountain biking,  game-room playing, fire sitting, and wine drinking. There is so much to do, but its all so relaxing.  It’s one of my favorite places in the world.

We had a delicious dinner at the Ranch House Restaurant (thank you Jennifer for the free champagne!).  I played with the menu, and took this ring shot (in a very dimly lit room), 7 months on.

It was a wonderfully warm and sunny weekend to be skiing.  Here are some shots from our route - lots of really cool barns scattered all over their 4000 acres.

This was just one in the many wonderful trips I’ve had since meeting the-most-wonderful-husband-in-the-world. I can’t wait for all the rest of adventures we’ll have together.  Happy seven month anniversary Tony.  I loves.

May 4, 2009 - 6:17 pm Tony Casson - This post is wonderful and the pictures are amazing just like the last 7 months (and two years before) have been but there is only one thing wrong with it - I am the lucky one.

May 4, 2009 - 7:57 pm Alyssa - ooh, I don't love Tony as much as you do :-), but I share your feelings on Devil's Thumb - we had such a great time at the wedding. Gorgeous pics - especially love the top b&w.

May 5, 2009 - 12:21 pm Courtney - lauren, what beautiful photographs. they seem to capture a sense of timelessness. and i love your wistful romanticism. spread the love :-)
