Welcome! This is the beginning of my foray into both blogging and photography. I promise that in the coming weeks I will be adding more features and posts, so make sure to put this blog in your rss feed. Also check out the “About Me” section if you want to know who I am and why I’m doing this.
A couple weeks ago my husband Tony and I went to Washington DC to visit our new baby niece Lyra. She is absolutely adorable - I am pretty sure she takes after her aunt Lauren. Although it’s difficult to plan around the schedule of a six-week old, I managed to get in some nice photos of my brother Cameron, my sister in law Eleanor, and the aforementioned perfect niece, their daughter Lyra. We went outside to their local park on a lovely DC spring day. Here is one of my favorites (you can see it in the blog header too). The light was nice and golden and glow-y for this shot.

I did manage to get a few good close-up pictures of Lyra as well. Let’s hope she keeps those gorgeous blue eyes. I think my favorite part of this photo is the little drool bubbles in her mouth - so cute!

We did more than just take pictures, though. I have to admit, although I live in Boulder and do my best to eat healthy and exercise, I love me some good cupcakes. While we were in DC, we stopped in Georgetown and got a couple dozen few cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake. I wish I had managed to take some pictures of the cupcakes, but if you’re in DC check them out. Here’s a shot I grabbed as we were walking towards the (really long) line for cupcakes. Don’t they make parenting look easy - just grab the baby and go!

Although the weekend was all about niece-visiting, I would be remiss if I didn’t post at least one picture of my parents. They live in Ohio, but drove down for the weekend to see everyone. I think my mom spends most of her time in sweat pants (sorry mom!) so it was nice to get some pictures of her dressed up and fancy. I love the emotion in this picture.

That’s it for now! Please comment and check back regularly.
