Welcome to my Blog!

I'm Lauren, a Boulder, Colorado portrait photographer.

The last several years of my life have been marked by a little bit of serendipity.  After bouncing around the country (and the world), three years ago I moved to Boulder on a whim.  I planned to stay for just a summer, but the sunny Boulder weather, abundant hiking, and delicious micro-brews won me over immediately. Meeting my now-husband, Tony, in a local margarita bar also provided pretty good motivation to stay put.  Last year while planning our wedding, I looked at hundreds of wedding photography websites.  Six months after the wedding,  I found myself still looking at those websites, investing in a fancy camera, taking photography classes, and now starting this blog.

Right now I am still learning how to take good photos and building my portfolio. I am not accepting any paying clients.  However, if you're interested in having me take some pictures, shoot me an email.

I hope you enjoy the website!

I can’t believe this week is almost over.  I’m trying to post at least twice a week, so I’d better get crackin.  Last weekend was forecast for all rain all the time, but luckily, the sun came out on Sunday, and we met friends for drinks and conversation.  Of course I got in some picture-taking as well.   The *best* part about not being a true professional and getting paid for my work?  I can drink all the mojitos I want!  I am much better at bar sports (pool, darts) when I drink….I wonder if the same holds true for photography?

I’ve been friends with Gretchen and Brian for a couple years now.  Tony and I were skiing with them in Steamboat Springs the day they got engaged, so I always have a soft spot in my heart for them. They had a wonderful New England fall wedding in 2007, and now they are parents to six month old JD.

So…there are magical flower elves in Boulder.  Did you notice the gorgeous tulips in the shots above?  They weren’t there the other day.  I SWEAR that someone comes out at night and replants all the flower beds with flowers in full bloom.  It’s like magic - one day there are short blue flowers and the next day there are tall red flowers.  They never seem to get shrivel-y and faded either,  they constantly look shine-y and new.

JD makes the best faces.  He’s one of the most expressive babies I’ve ever seen.

Here are some more of the happy family. I’m not sure that I love the texture on this next one.  It’s something I’m playing with.  Any thoughts?
